Hello Martyn,

The free/busy problem is caused by failure in either the Outlook's Autodiscover Service, or the maybe the availability service is not able to provide the information that is necessary and required by the users. You will therefore need to troubleshoot the problem that these two services may be having.

By using outlook 2007, you will need to log onto the mailbox that belongs to the user that you want to troubleshoot the problems autodiscover may be having, and then follow the simple steps below:

  • With outlook opened, you will go to the main menu and then click on Tools, and then choose Options and then Others, and then choose the Advanced Options by clicking on the tab.
  • In the window that will come up, you select Enable Logging from there, and then click OK.
  • Thereafter you will need to restart the outlook, just close it and open it again, and then try viewing the free/busy details for another user.
  • Done that, go to start on your computer and type run in the search field and then press enter. In the dialog box type %temp%, and in the window that will open, open OLKDISC.LOG file. From there you will be able to see which services are not functioning properly.
