Hi Experts

Should i use RAM in single – channel or in dual-channel?

Will one stick of 2GB sufficient or should i buy two separate sticks of 1 GB each?

Hello, thanks for your question.

Actually RAM is the amount of physical memory required by a computer to perform various tasks in a computer. So more the amount of RAM the more is your performance in terms of speed.

Running RAM at a single channel gives better performance than running at dual channel. For copying, start up, program loading gives better performance of single running RAMs. I would suggest to buy a single stick of 2GB rather than 1GB separate. Hope this will be beneficiary to you.

You should always go for Dual-channel solution! Buy two sticks of 1 Gb, and put them in corresponding RAM slots (if there are only two slots, it’s ok, but if there are 4 slots, they should be colored – put RAM sticks to the slots of same color).

This dual channel will allow memory controller to access each of two memory sticks, and that will as result increase the bandwidth. So this technology increase the data transfer speed between memory controller and RAM modules by adding more communication channels amongst them.
