USB mouse and keyboard do not work properly

I am using a computer which has Gigabyte z77-ds3h motherboard. Few days ago the USB mouse that I am using started freezing randomly. During the first time it has happened I tried plugging it into a another USB 2.0 port and it didn't work either. Then I tried plugging it into the USB 3.0 port it worked fine. But a few days later I got the same problem with my keyboard as well. But my USB modem worked fine therefore I can't figure out what causes the problem. Whether is it mouse, keyboard or motherboard?

These connectivity problems are common and should not be cause for alarm. From the description given, the symptoms of the mouse actually immediately point out to lack of battery. Are the mouse and keyboard wired or do they function with batteries or with a charger/lit-battery?

If batteries are indeed not the problem the drivers may indeed be outdated for the USB 2.0 Port. It sounds unlikely that there would be any major conflict with your mouse and the port just because it would be 2.0. However, if the mouse works perfectly on USB 3.0, it’s best to leave it there and not really change it back.

Hello,

I think your mouse and keyboard are having problem with the drivers, you should troubleshoot it. If you are getting a connecting sound, then i think probably you are having problems with your drivers. There can be a problem due to the disabling of  BIOS. If not then surely you are having problems with your motherboards. I would recommend you to check it from a hardware expert as it can cause further damage to your system.

Hope this helps you out.
