Upgrading the clockspeed or buying a new pc?

I received my very own Flip camcorder and installed FlipShare. Everything was working fine, and I was able to save videos and shared them online.

However, with the recent FlipShare software upgrade, I encountered “Your System does not meet the minimum system requirements for FlipShare”.

Error Message, only to find out my clock speed was not enough to run the latest software. Which is better, to upgrade the clock speed of my pc or to buy a new one? I have the following computer specs:

DESKTOP OS: XP SP3
Processor: Pentium 4 CPU 2.4 GHz
RAM: 1.25 GB

You can change the clock speed on your computer, but it depends on a few factors. The best thing for you to do is contact your local support for your computer and find out if it is upgradeable, then call again and make certain the answer is the same.

you get two different answers – call a third time because one of them didn't look.

It then depends on how much you want to increase your clock speed. Once you get this answer then you can determine if you want a new tower or to keep your current one.

Since it is a desktop you might be able to just put in a new CPU. It really depends on your budget and your interests.

Good luck,

Poppy.

Hello Jovilyn,

Personally, I think it's pretty impractical to upgrade a PC just so it can run a FlipShare software. Here's what I suggest.

  1. Stick with the version that works for your PC. Read the documentation on what new features or functions or fixes were added to the latest FlipShare update. If the new features or fixes aren't that important to you then there's no need to upgrade.
  2. If you still want to update, I read somewhere that it's possible to call support and ask the support agent who will give you a private link to a version of the file setup that does not have the problem you describe.
  3. Try This Link.
  4. Look for other software that can do what FlipShare does. Picasa 3 can do the stuff that FlipShare does. But you have to leave FlipShare installed. For playback of the movies, you can always use other freeware movie players such as VLC player, KMPlayer or Media Player Classic.
