Updating laptop failed: Progress remained 0% and did not turn off

My laptop is set to update all the things that need to be updated. These updates include security updates on Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB979482).

Update for Internet Explorer 8 for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2398632), Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool x64 – October 2010 (KB890830), The 2007 Microsoft Office Suite Service Pack 2 (SP2) and other important updates that should have been made and should have been successful.

My problem is that, when I turned off my laptop the update should have started and should have been installed successfully but instead the progress of the update was still 0%.

My laptop did not even turn off after that. So can anyone tell me what really happened?

It is good to update every component of the computer. And sometimes too many updates happening in the computer simultaneously can really cause some serious problems especially in the running programs.

There are instance when automatic updates are accidentally launched simultaneously where the other update stops for awhile while waiting for the other process to finish but in the end the pausing leads to permanent stopping or cancelling of the whole process.

This conflict is between programs and is inevitable. If your laptop’s supposed update did not finish and the progress bar remained at 0%, then cancel the whole operation and then do the update manually.

This way you can see for yourself the progress of every update and confirming its completion.

Hi there ,

It seems you are having trouble with the updating procedure of your laptop.

Updates are nothing but files or setup files that updates your current system files so to fix the bugs or add new features to it.

Its a very good to update the PC and you must do it regularly . I think you are having original (genuine) windows 7 if not please buy from microsoft.

Restart the PC and click on update again . Go to Start -> control panel -> windows update to see the update settings .

Then update the PC and wait until its completed . Please don't run any programs currently , If it disturbs the Temp folder some error may occur. And install it.

If still not successful contact microsoft , they are happy to help their genuine customers.
