Hi Jeffery,

To fix it you could click on the fix now button but usually it does not work. If it is not working for you than there are a few steps you could try.

  • Click the right button in the system tray on the Avast icon, then select “Avast Shields Control, select “Disable until Computer is restarted”
  • Restart the Computer

If that is not working for you than try the following steps:

  1. From Start Menu search for "Run command box" and type “services.msc” (with no quotes)
  2. Attempt to “Start” Avast Service if it is stopped as Avast reported and be sure that “Startup type” has been set to “Automatic”.

Start Menu search for "Run command box" and type “services.msc”               3. Than restart your computer.

If you still have not been able to solve this problem try this:

  1. Download and than run "Avast Uninstall Utility" in safe mode.
  2. After you uninstall it,  install the newest version of Avast  and than register your free Avast copy.
