An unexpected error has occurred on HP Compaq System Recovery

Hi,

I have to do a system recovery on my HP Compaq Presario notebook. Everything is going fine until I reached the applying system settings window, my notebook suddenly restarted itself. When it opens, it brings me an error like this;

An unexpected error has occurred. Please close and try to run Setup again later.

So I turned the computer off and opened it again after a while. I tried to run the recovery again,but every time I do, it will just lead me to the same error box. I have the recovery disk with me. Is there a possibility that my disk is corrupted?

Anyway, the reason for executing a recovery is because of some faulty software that runs in my system. Some of the programs are not working properly. And I am experiencing freezes and hangs.

can reformat this and install a fresh copy of Windows Vista, but I don't have a genuine installation disk with me. I don't know what to do now because I cannot access my desktop anymore. After the POST screen, the error instantly appears. I open the BIOS settings and restore to its default settings, but it doesn't work.

Please send me instructions on how to resolve this,  I will appreciate it.

Thanks.

The installation of your Operating System is incomplete or corrupted. "An unexpected error has occurred. Please close and try to run Setup again later." error is made by an error when downloading your PowerShell.

Install Fix it Center Online. Run all Actions to check and see what errors in your computer. It is an Automatic Troubleshooter, solves issues and also prevent new ones.

PowerShell. You must choose only one. You must know that type of Operating System you are using. After the download, restart your computer and install the fix for PowerShell:

If after the POST screen the next screen that appears is the error, changing some settings in the BIOS won’t help because the problem is in the operating system and the BIOS doesn’t have control over that. The BIOS can enable and disable installed devices on the motherboard but that’s it. The suggestion on the first post to use the Microsoft Fix It utility is a good method of correcting the issue.

Another way that’s worth to try is to use the “Last known good configuration” setting in the Advanced Options Menu. When you use this setting, Microsoft Windows will use the most recent settings that worked on your computer to start the machine. To try this, restart your computer normally. After the POST screen appears and before the Windows logo appears, press F8.

In the Advanced Options Menu, select “Last known good configuration (your most recent settings that worked)” then press Enter twice. If the computer successfully boots using this setting, uninstall all the applications you think are faulty or causes the system to freeze. To avoid installing faulty programs in the future, make sure to read and understand the system requirements of the program making sure that it supports your current operating system.
