Hi,

Naturally Windows Vista users get this error code whenever they try to use some antivirus on their PC which is not well-matched with the Windows Vista operating system.

Need your help to find a solution.

Thanks.

The error code 0xc004d401 in Windows Vista may be due to 3 reasons:

  1. There is a file mismatch error on the security processor
  2. There is an unrecognized error
  3. There was an unauthorized change made to your system’s license

These error messages or error code comes up if antivirus software or DRM (Digital Rights Management) software was installed on your computer but is not compatible with Windows Vista. To have this resolve, you may try the following:

  1. Restart your computer
  2. Press F8 key before the Windows Vista logo appears on the screen (this will bring you to the Advanced Boot Options screen)
  3. Use the arrow keys for scrolling then select Safe Mode option and hit Enter
  4. Once you have Windows Vista loaded on Safe Mode, click on Start then type appwiz.cpl in the search box
  5. On the Programs list, select appwiz.cpl
  6. Identify all incompatible programs in your Vista
  7. Select each of these programs and uninstall them
  8. Restart your computer in normal mode
  9. Validate your Windows Vista on https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/940315/how-to-activate-windows-vista

If the issue persist try system restore to go back to your previous system settings up to the time before you started getting the error message or error code. In case you are unable to uninstall all the conflicting programs from your computer, you may use a third-party uninstall software like Revo Uninstaller.

Hi there ,

I think you are having trouble with Windows Vista Operating system . Let me remind you that according to Microsoft Windows Vista is a complete failure. I want you to upgrade to Windows 7.

Windows Vista is facing a Huge amount of Compatibility issues Ever since it has been launched officially.I Installed it and i noticed the drivers supported no more and also most of my applications failed to install and also the working ones had faced many problems.

Upgrade to Windows 7 That is the best solution for your Problem .

Or Else check the Windows Vista Certified programs and install , Reminding this is a herculean task.

Good luck.
