I had my server upgraded to its latest version, which is 10, when this error message windowed:

Error

Unable to upgrade OfficeScan client. The installation package was created from an OfficeScan server that does not manage the client installed on this computer. Please report this problem to your OfficeScan administrator.

My question is: could it be relevant to my version of Windows?

Thanks in advance for the replies.

Unable to upgrade OfficeScan client

Hello Danny,

This error appears because the client installation package was created from a server that does not manage the client you are trying to upgrade. The error is not at all related to the version on Windows you are using.

The client upgrade process will not proceed and will terminate if the client package was created using another Officescan Server. The client package checks to determine if it reports to the same server where the package was created. If it does not, it complains and exits.

There's however a solution which requires recreating the package. Here are the steps which essentially disable the server checking mechanism before creating the client package –

  1. On the OfficeScan server, navigate to the ..PCCSRV folder.
  2. Open the ofcscan.ini file using a text editor.
  3. Under [INI_CLIENT_SETUP_SECTION], add the following parameter and value:

    1. BypassServerChecking=1
  4. Save your changes and close the file.
  5. Create the new client package
  6. Use this new package to upgrade the clients

Hoping above mentioned steps help you fix the issues you have encountered.
