Hi all!

My desktop alter to UBUNTU classic without unity after installed ATI RADEON HD 6470M driver from ATI website. I resolved it by uninstalling it.

Now the problem I am facing is I am unable to update from update manager and failed to activate additional driver. Want to change my system to default. I am running 32bit UBUNTU 11.04.

Any help will be appreciated highly. Thank you.

ATI RADEON HD 6470M driver error-the package system is broken

The package system Is broken

Check if you are using third party repositories. If so disable them, since they are a common source of problems. Furthermore run the following command in a Terminal: apt- get Install -f

Dear Mildred hawk,

Sometimes when you install some program regardless of what this program is, may be not all the dependencies are installed and so your package manager might get corrupted and you are not going to be able to install any new programs or packages. Please follow these upcoming instructions in order to fix your problem:

  • Go to System > Administration > Synaptic Package Manager.
  • Select the "Custom Filters" button on the left menu.
  • Select "Broken" and you will find the broken packages list.
  • Right click the broken package and select "Mark for Complete Removal" and click "Apply".

Now your problem should be solved.

Hope this may help you.

Best of luck.
