Have you check if you have enough space on your recovery partition? Also, when installing an operating system, it should be on your default hard drive. Do not try to save it to any other secondary partitions. Alternatively, you can follow the steps below:

1. Go to your Disk Management under the Computer Management.

2. Assign a drive letter to your recovery partition Or if you have a reserved partition.

3. Search for any folders that have any other languages aside from English.

4. Try to install the Windows 8.1 update again. You can also delete the drive letter that you assigned on your partition once you successfully install the update.

You may also try to perform a clean install and deleting the Boot + C partition.

Hello,

I had the same error and tried a lot of methods but all were dead ends.

I then fixed this error by increasing the system reserved partition from 350MB to 400MB. I suppose I was facing this problem because there was not enough available space to backup in the system reserved partition.

I recommend that you should consider your options as this approach is a bit risky.
