I have iTunes and I can't download new updates on my iPhone apps. It won't allow me to download those updates and it is throwing an error message. I purchased some of the apps and the updates are free, yet the error below continuously appears. I am using one account only on iTunes. Kindly please send me the steps on resolving this. Thank you.

You can not update this software since you have not owned the major version of this software.

Unable to update software on iTunes

This problem with failure on updating apps via iTunes is very common and the usual culprit is iTunes itself particularly the version. I think the reason for this is that a conflict builds up when you are still running an older version of the program and a newer version is already available.

It’s like when they release new version they also update the way the store is accessed via the app. That’s why when doing an update and still via the older version of iTunes, errors are encountered and the process is not successful. To fix your problem, you should upgrade iTunes to the latest version. Visit Download iTunes 11.1.4 to get the latest version.

Once downloaded, remove the older version and install this latest version you just downloaded.
