Hi! I am facing error when starting my HP Compaq Presario V2000. I got an error message when booting it today. The error is, “Failed to start window, please mark the message below and contract "take your own risk" for technical support.” What is this error all about? My laptop is working great since the last time of using it but I can’t seem to make it work now. Can someone please help me? I am running Windows XP Home Premium. Thanks.

There can be number of problems in this case you need to check each and every point.

  • Check for all hardware and software problem.
  • In this case of problem i think that there is a hardware problem so you need to check all of your hardware.
  • Check the battery and make sure your power supply and all hardware is working properly.
  • Check for all the things if you can remove the hardware and  then you can place it again or contact a technical support.
  • Check for all hardware problems.
  • Check the windows are they become corrupted or need some repair.
  • When booting press F8 key several time and try to run as safe mode if you can do this.
  • If you can not run in safe mode then try to recover your window.
  • You need to check that what was the last operation you performed earlier on your laptop and try to find error.

I hope you will be able to solve your problem.

Its look like your laptop is attacked by some virus so in this case you need to install antivirus whenever you install a window. In case you have some problem so first thing is to check you disk and make it error free. Run your PC in disk command mode and perform this task, check all the disk and make sure that there is no such disk error. This error mostly cause due to the hard disk failure so you need to check that. Also check the RAM and all other hardware devices. Then you need to perform a new copy of your window and make sure that no file is corrupt on your computer run virus scan on time and make sure that there is no virus in your computer. If the problem is due to some hardware then you need to fix the hardware to check this you need to plug and unplug all the software and then you will be able to check your hardware one by one.

This error can be caused by anything. It can be due to a program you previously installed or a hardware you recently added. It can also be caused by a virus or an adware maybe. But with all the errors I’ve seen in Microsoft Windows, I haven’t seen one that includes the line “take your own risk”. Try starting the computer using the “Last known good” option.

Restart your computer then press F8 on your keyboard before the Windows logo appears. In Advanced Boot Options, scroll down and select “Last Known Good Configuration” and hit Enter. This boot option restores the registry information and driver settings to those that were used at the last successful startup. See if this works. If this doesn’t work, turn off your computer for about 10 to 20 seconds.

After this, turn it back on and see if it works. If this doesn’t work, boot your computer in Safe Mode. Restart your computer then press F8 before the Windows logo appears. In Advanced Boot Options, select “Safe Mode” then hit Enter. Log in with an administrator account and click “Yes” to continue in Safe Mode. In Safe Mode, uninstall any program you previous installed.

It can be a driver for a hardware or device you previously added or an application. Once the program is removed, restart your computer and boot normally. See if this works. If this doesn’t work, remove any hardware or device you recently added then try again. If the problem continues, remove your hard drive and connect it to another computer and then scan the entire drive with an antivirus.
