Hello everyone! Please help me figure out how to fix this problem with my iPhone 3GS. I have just installed an iOS 5.0 to my iPhone 3GS successfully which I got from Apple. After that I was wondering why I cannot send message using SMS. I tried using iMessage, and I can use the feature without problems. I can also receive text messages. But the problem is I cannot send any SMS messages. How can I fix this?

To solve that problem, you will need to follow the steps below. So just try them out:

  • First, you will need to backup the data that you have on the iphone and you want to be safe.
  • Some of the details you may want to save include the contacts with address book, the photos that you have in iphoto, and the notes with yahoo.
  • After you have done that, you will need to restore your iphone to its factory settings
  • When it has completed the restore process, it will request you whether you desire to back up from earlier back-up or restore as a brand new phone.
  • You will need to restore as a brand new phone.
  • After that you should sync your phone with address book, iphoto so that you can retrieve every of your stuff back.

Hello Kezia,

The easy fix that you can use to resolve the issue that you are getting when using your iphone is the following:

  • First you will need to back up everything that you want to save, for instance the contacts w/ address book, the photos with iphoto, the notes with yahoo and so forth.
  • After that you will need to go to restore your phone.
  • After that is done, you will be asked whether you want to back up from previous back-up or restore as a brand new phone.
  • You will need to restore as a brand new phone.
  • After that you text should be working again,
  • You can now sync your phone with address book, iphoto and so forth so that you can have all of your stuff back.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Carl

If you upgraded your iPhone 3GS to iOS 5 and now you can’t send a text message, check if you have enough balance to send a text. If your subscription has enough balance, try making a voice call to a friend to see if the call goes through.

If this is not a problem and you can make calls to anyone, try turning off your phone for about ten to twenty seconds (10 – 20 seconds). After this, turn on your phone then try sending a text message again and see if it works. If the problem continues, the last option is to reset your device.

First, download the latest iTunes and install it to upgrade your existing version. Next, connect your iPhone to your computer using the USB cable that came with it then start iTunes if it doesn’t start automatically. Next, select your device in iTunes then click “Summary” on the left pane. Click “Restore iPhone” on the right then click “Restore” to verify.

After this, iTunes then erases your entire device and installs the latest iOS software. Once your device has been restored to factory settings, it will restart automatically. Note: back up all important files on your phone to your memory card then remove the memory card and SIM card from the phone before doing the actual reset.
