I am running Windows 7 and I used Carbonate in backing up files. Recently, I cannot save my documents in MS-Word 2003. I cannot edit any saved documents nor add anything into it. Can anyone send me a solution for this?

Try Detect and Repair. On the Task Bar > Help > Detect & Repair. It might also be that your global template is corrupted or there might be something loading automatically in your Word Startup folder that is not configured correctly or corrupted. To check it, go to Start > Run > type winword.exe /a in the dialog box.

This launches MS Word with a clean, empty template and no-add ins. If the MS Word works okay, it is probably either a bad normal.dot file or a corrupted add-in. To get a new clean template, close Word and do a search of your computer normal.dot file and delete it.

If there is more than one, rename or delete all of them. When you launch Word,it will look for normal.dot and since it cannot find it, it will recreate a new clean one.

Hi Maxie,

As matter of safety, you are required to at least make another backup of your document offline, for instance on an external hard disk or a flash drive, for sometimes online backup has its draw backs. You document that you backed up online using carbonate could have been corrupt due to infection by malicious viruses that run online.

So the remedy could getting a copy that you could have stored offline and work on it to suit your needs for the time being, otherwise you can trying editing the document in Microsoft office 2007 assuming that the problem could be as result of compatibility issues.

Hope this helps.
