After my iMac updated, my Word 2008 updated as well. After that, I cannot print any Word document that say something like Word has encountered a problem and then the document will close automatically and I lost my unsaved file. How can I resolve this issue?

As you have not provided any information about your system configuration, I will be providing you with a generalized solution to the problem that you are encountering now. Here is couple of steps that you might consider employing:
Make use of the software update for both your OS and your MS Word Package.
If you are using OS X Lion, go to Print and Scan pane in the system preferences and delete the affected printer in question.
If you are using OX Snow Leopard, go to Print and Fax pane in system preferences and delete the affected printer.
In both cases make sure you add the printer again. If necessary have the disk/ disks for the printer ready.
In case the problem persists, you might consider visiting your printer's support website, for the updated browser, compatible with you OS. One place to go to would be, http://support.apple.com/downloads/#printer%20drivers, for printer driver updates.
If you are using a printer wirelessly, make sure you are plugged into the network and the network drive is working correctly. Alternatively, you might want to try setting up the printer directly through USB connection.
