Unable to prevent some apps from using data in my IPhone

I am using IPhone 5S and I do not want my WhatsApp messages to show whenever I connect to the internet. I am able to switch it off in case of mobile data but how can I restrict it from using WiFi data also? Similarly I want to disable other apps temporarily, is it possible? If yes then how?

Not all mobile phone apps require Wi-Fi connection and there are only some that uses it like when sharing your score to your Facebook page when playing a game. Most of the apps I used don’t have an option for Wi-Fi or the internet and whenever it needs to be online, it always asks for permission to connect to the internet.

I’m not sure if all apps are the same and ask for permission every time it connects but if your app doesn’t do this and it automatically connects to the internet, there is always a way to prevent the app from doing this. You can turn off your phone’s Wi-Fi connection. When you do this, your app will now be restricted from connecting to the internet.

To turn off your iPhone’s Wi-Fi, go to Settings and then select Wi-Fi. Slide the button to off. After this, your phone’s Wi-Fi connection is now deactivated.
