Unable to play .avi files after upgrading Perian

I am running Mac OS X Lion with QuickTime Player 7 and Perian for Mac. I used to play .avi files without problem. But today when I updated Perian, I started having issues on playing .avi files. When I tried to roll back to the previous version, I was still unable to play the file. I have searched everywhere for possible solutions but I was unlucky to get one. How can I fix this?

The document " .avi" could not be opened. A required codec isn't available.

To see if additional software is available that will enable QuickTime Player to open the movie, click Tell me more.

Perian users face this types of problems day in day out. Appreciating that you have done hard work to fix this problem. Now try however I’m saying.

  • First manually update your perian system in your computer then check if it remains or not. It should work fine now.
  • Sometimes for the installation of Divx may create problem. So if you did uninstall it.
  • Download Flip4mac, install it and then try to play again. See it works or not.
  • Remove profane and reinstall it. Often reinstalling works suddenly.

Follow properly and your problem should fix. Best of luck.
