Hi,

Recently I can't open my drive by double click on it, but I can access my drive by right click on it and select "Explore". I asked my friends for advice, and He said that my computer was infected. I don’t know how to fix it, please help me to fix the problem. I’m using Windows XP.

Thanks in advanced.

In order to fix the problem, just following the steps below:

  • Using any anti-virus software to scan the entire computer.
  • Search and eliminate the desktop.ini and autorun.inf in your drive, ex: C:desktop.ini or D:desktop.ini
  • Restart your computer.

Note: In case that you can’t find those files, It may be that your computer is not set to view “System and hidden files”:

  • Open My Computer –> Tools (from tool bar) –> Folder Options –> View tab –> Select “Show hidden files and folders” option under “Hidden files and folders” section, click “Apply” button and then click “OK”.
  • Go to your drive, we’ll see those files be there, then delete them.

Hi Noobies,

What is the exact error message you are getting when you double click on the drive? Please include a screenshot if possible.

Thanks,

Hi,

Your computer is infected by some viruses. Install a license version of antivirus and scan your full computer, also search autorun.inf and delete it or quarantined by the antivirus. Your problem will be solved.

It shows that Your computer may be infected with virus. You should have to solve it as soon as possible and clean your infected computer from virus.

First of all you must Install a strong and good antivirus then scan your system and remove the virus founded by the antivirus software. But it is better to format your old windows and install a new window again. Then update your all software.

Hopefully if you format the windows the problem will be solved.
