Unable to load web pages using Safari or start iChat.

Hello,

After installing the Lion operating system for Mac I am unable to load web pages using Safari or start iChat. I can open the iChat program but everything including the menus are grayed out. In iChat I can click on system preferences/mail option followed by contacts & calendar/aol/enable iChat.

However, when I try to enable the iChat box I receive the error "there was a problem setting up the account, an unknown error occurred". Both of these issues only occur when using the admin user account. I have run the permissions repair tool and rebooted my computer almost a dozen times to no avail.

When using Firefox, the iTunes store and other Internet apps I don’t have any problems. Does anyone know how I can solve these 2 issues?

Thanks in advance.

Hi there,

It is a common issue faced by people having recent Lion upgrade of Mac.

However there are solutions to this problem that worked for many people,

Open IChat and go to ‘Activity Monitor’ (use Spotlight to find it or go to Applications > Utilities).

find “imagent” and click the red “Quit Process” button.

A dialogue may will come up and will ask if you want to Quit, Cancel, or Force Quit.

Select Force Quit and iChat will connect.

If above method doesn't resolve your issue then try this method:-

Go to menu iChat

Select "System Preferences"

Choose Accounts icon

Select “Server Settings” tab

Change the Server to “slogin.oscar.aol.com”

Now that will fix it for you

Hope it helps!!
