Unable to install Skype Portable in its own sandbox

Hello,

I have been trying to install Skype Portable in its own sandbox but failed to do so because of an Application Error. When I try to install it I get the following error message. ‘Memory could not be read. Click OK to terminate the program’. A screenshot giving the detailed message is attached below. I am using Windows 8.1, 64 bit and Sandboxie 4.07.03. I am getting the same error when I try to install regular Skype too. Does Sandboxie prevent installation of Skype? I did not get any info regarding this. Could anyone give me solution to fix this? I am absolutely in the dark as to what to do. Hope someone can guide me. Thanks a ton.

The instruction at 0x76aab1b0 referenced memory at 0x00000009. The memory could not be read.

Click on OK to terminate the program

Yes you are right in your guess, Sandboxie does blocks Skype as a service. This is true for all versions of Sandboxie. Protecting system from services is one of the core functionality of Sandboxie and it won’t allow you to do that.

There are few options you may try, like install Virtual Machine with Windows 7 or XP and install Skype on them. You may also try to just install in your own system and run it sandboxed.
