Unable to Export Outlook Contacts into a CSV File

Hi Experts! I need help on Outlook 2007. All the exported contacts are not visible. I already exported all my contacts into a CSV file. I heard that one of the possible causes of this is when there are special characters included on my contacts, but I did not use any special characters so I don’t think that it is the main cause of the issue. How can I fix this? Is it possible to export Outlook contacts into a CSV file that will be visible? Please help. Thank you.

Unable to Export Outlook Contacts into a CSV File

Hello Moira!

To export your contacts into CSV file, you have to ensure that you already converted your contacts into a vCard file. To create a vCard, please follow the steps below:

  1. Select the contact in the Contact folder. The contact you will select is the one that you intend to create a vCard.
  2. Click Save As on the File menu.
  3. When you are in the Save file as type prompt box, select VCARD files (*.vcf)
  4. And then, select the folder to where you want to save your vCard and then hit Save.

This will create a vCard file with the same name as your contact.

To distribute a vCard:

This method is the same as we distribute any files.

  1. Create a new message and add a recipient where you want to send your vCard.
  2. Click File on the Insert menu.
  3. Select the vCard or the .vcf file and then hit OK.

Comma Separated Value (CSV) is one of the most common export file format that we used in Outlook. To export contacts successfully, I will recommend you to choose a .pst file. Please continue reading below to learn more about how to export your contacts.

  1. To open the Outlook Options, click the File tab>Options>Advanced.
  2. Click Export under Export.
  3. Under the Import and Export Wizard, click the Export to a file and then Next.
  4. In the Create a file of type, click the type of export that you want  and then Next.
  5. On the Select folder to export from, select the folder that you want to export and then Next.
  6. On the Save exported file as, click Browse and then select where you want to save it. Then type a name of your file in the File name box.
  7. Click OK.
  8. Under the Export to a File box, hit Next and then click Finish.

I hope this solution can be able to help you. Good luck!
