Unable to burn DVD on Windows 8

Hi,

I am using the Lenovo Thinkpad T430 laptop with Windows 8 on it. I am trying to burn DVD in this laptop using Windows.

It is taking very long time, but at the end it is failing with error "The disc image didn't burn successfully because an error occurred. (Error code: 0x8007045D)". I have tried using imgburn but it didn't detect my drive. I have removed all 3rd party softwares from my laptop, but no luck.

Is there any problem with my DVD drive? Or Is there any problem with the way I am burning a DVD? Please advice to resolve my problem. Thanks!

David,

We are going to suppose that your computer is detecting your DVD station and that you tried with other discs.

Sometimes, third party burners, music players or other softwares that use the DVD create some files that can be the cause of this issue. We will try to check out for those files and if found them, will delete them.

1. Go to device manager and delete your DVD driver.
Search results with Device Manager selected

Look for the line with the DVD, click on it, then  right click and uninstall the driver of your DVD (name should be different to the example)

Device Manager window, uninstall DVD/CD-ROM drive

Close the Device Manager

Again in the box type regedit

Search results with regedit selected

On the regedit menu look for the following folders and exactly file name:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

  • SYSTEM
  •        CurrentControlSet
  •                   Control
  •                               Class
  •                                     4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318

After getting to the file name, check on your right and if you see UPPER FILTERS and LOWER FILTERS, delete both, confirm with YES.

Close the Registry, restart the computer. Windows will install automatically the DVD driver. Wait and then try to burn.

Hope this helps
