Hi Whiz,

I googled and downloaded the UFRaw to work with the raw files. I get the below error message when I try to export it to the GIMP. I have the latest version of GIMP and UFRaw. Both GIMP and UFRaw works independently fine but the problem triggered when they are together. UFRaw is not compatible with GIMP? Please help guide me to the solution? Thanks.

Error activating Gimp.

UFRaw exporting error to the GIMP

UFRaw stands for Unidentified Flying Raw. It is a program that is capable of manipulating and reading photos in raw image formats as when they are created by numerous digital cameras. This application is available as a plug-in for GIMP or can be used as a standalone program but is not available on Microsoft Windows.

Since you received an “error activating GIMP”, it means you are installing UFRaw as a plug-in for GIMP and not as a standalone application. If this is the case, make sure you are using the supported version. If you want to install UFRaw, you need to have at least GIMP 2.0 or higher. Any lower version is not supported.

So you better check what version of GIMP is installed on your computer. If you are using an outdated version, download the latest version from GIMP 2.8. Uninstall the outdated version, restart your computer, and then install the newly downloaded GIMP 2.8. After this, you can download the plug-in again from UFRaw for Linux and UNIX.

Additionally, you don’t need to install GIMP if you only want to use UFRaw as a standalone application but you still need the GIMP Tool Kit [GTK +2].
