Hi!

I just recently installed Premiere CS5 with my laptop. I wasn’t able to test it right away because I have to visit a friend. Meanwhile, I checked again my software if it’s going to work. It all coincided except every time I import videos. I can only see black screen. I converted the media file to .avi, it is still the same no picture. I tried to check in the internet what could be the possible resolution with this problem. Can you provide me instructions on how to resolve this?

Hello,

                The adobe premiere pro can't decode video video files that are encoded with poorly designed code that is not installed on the computer.

                 So to know the format the codec of the files you are working with helps you the following below, 1.) open a file Apple quick time player and choose window> show, movie inspector.

                 2.) If a file from camcorder, camera then sees the device's documentation or locate device specification on the manufacturer website.

                 3.) Open a file in third party application that analyze media files such as media info or spot 2.70.
