Transferring Videos from Camcorder to PC using Kino

I am having trouble transferring videos to my PC from a camcorder.  I am using Kino as my software to capture videos from a camcorder. It works normally when I control the camcorder but sometimes, Kino would stop updating, resulting to staggered frame counts.  To resume, I would have to restart Kino.  Please help me solve my problems. I would really appreciate your useful ideas.

Hallo Amber,

Are you using a cable to transfer the files or does your camcorder have bluetooth connection which you are using a bluetooth transfer to move the files to the computer. If it is the latter, I will advice that you try using a cable and see if the problem will be solved.

A possible cause of the problem will be because you have stored many files on the cam that are making it to freeze. If it is using a memory card, just remove it and transfer the files directly to the computer.

Hi Amber,

Kino is a great video editing tool for minimal video blogging requiring simple editing. This problem could be with Kino. Uploading or updating files directly from this software is impacted by several factors such as the file size of the video/frames it’s trying to upload and the memory of your PC being used. May I suggest that you try to save your videos on your PC’s hard drive and update your Kino’s files one done. I also do video editing using a different software and what I normally do is I just transfer the videos/photos to my PC folder and the software I’m using has access to these personal folders which is less-hassle. Of course, it depends if you’re comfortable using Kino but to have a software that doesn’t need manual updating of files is something you might want to consider.

Hope this helps.
