I have a lot of music files on my Windows 7 OS runned laptop. How can I possibly transfer all these files to the XBox Music Library? Will I encounter a version problem?

Hello,

I am very sorry to inform you that Microsoft no longer offers support for Xbox Music (previously Zune) to Windows 7 users. There are some issues that I have to inform you about:

  1. You cannot upload your own music collection to Xbox live and access it from Xbox Music in Windows 7
  2. Xbox Music is offered as a part of the Windows 8 bundle. This called the "Music" app

If you choose to use the Music app in Windows 8 then you can add your own music collection by going through the following steps:

  1. Open file explorer by clicking on the first icon on the left hand corner of the taskbar
  2. On the left hand pane of the window, you will find a folder called Favorites
  3. Click on Music which is a sub-folder of Favorites
  4. On the top the window, called the Ribbon, you will find a tab called Manage. Select it

  1. In the sub-menu that drops down, select the first icon “Manage Library”
  2. Select Add
  3. Select the folder that contains your music collection
  4. Click on “Include Folder”. Then on Ok
  5. You will be able to access your music collection in the Music app provided by Windows 8, which is Xbox Music
