Hi,

I have a Toshiba Laptop c850 that is more than 2 years in use. Recently I have been facing a problem with the Caps Lock. Whenever the Caps Lock is on the whole computer locks itself and no other key is working. Also the mouse disappears from the screen and it is really weird. I need help to figure out what is wrong and how to correct it.

Any ideas will be appreciated.

The fastest way to get this fixed is to do a System Restore on your computer to a date where the keys and mouse are still functioning perfectly. This way, you will be able to find out if this is a hardware problem or a system component problem. If the laptop still does this after doing a System Restore, then try plugging in a USB keyboard, and see if the same thing happens to it.

Press FN and F9 at the same time until little pictures of mice appear on the screen. It looks like a normal mouse. The other should be a mouse with a (stop sign) through it. One picture will be bigger than the other. If the normal mouse is bigger, it should say (enable) under it. If that's the case, let go of the FN + F9 keys and hit Enter. This should enable the mouse/touchpad. If the large picture is of the mouse with the (X) through it, it will say (disable) under it. If that's the case, then press FN and F9 again so the picture of the normal mouse saying (enable) is larger, and then press Enter.

If it dont work try external mouse and keyboard.
