TIFF files are causing error when uploading photos onto iCloud photo stream

I have been learning how to use iCloud and find it wonderful. All is working well except for the photo stream. I am unable to upload my photos that are in TIFF files. When I attempt to upload the TIFF files an error message pops up indicating that the only accepted files are the ones in JPG, TIFF or RAW format. Another suggestion it gives is that the file may be too large. The manual indicates that files in TIFF format with maximum 100 MB are acceptable. The ones that I was uploading are in TIFF format and are 35 MB. After analyzing the TIFF files I was uploading, I realized that some of the files in TIFF that were previously in NEF format were the cause of error while uploading the photos onto photo stream. My photos are taken using a D5000 and are mostly processed through a Nik software: Silver Efex Pro 2. TIFF files that were originally in JPG format are uploading well. I have come to understand there is a feature in conversion from NEF to TIFF that is non-recognizable by photo stream and that is the cause of my problem. I need your help.

Well, the format the is supported for the images to be uploaded to iCloud on your case seems to be JPG, and I am assuming that is because files in the JPG format usually are in the smallest format as compared to the other formats that you can save the images in. That is why you will need to convert all the  images that you want  to upload into the JPG format so as to reduce their size and enable the upload to run smoothly. And since you are uploading large files as big as 35 MB, then you will need to have a very fast internet connection speed for the upload to be successful.
