TCP/IP Error on setting up Thunderbird

Hi Roquib007,

Let me go straight to the point.  In order to fix this problem, you would need to contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) or email provider.  You need to get from them the configuration, they use for email security and outgoing authentication or their SMTP settings.

But to help you out further, once you have the information needed, please follow the following steps:

  • Open Thunderbird and go to Tools>Account Settings.  On the left side or at the bottom of the list, click on SMTP or Outgoing Server.
  • Click on Edit and this should open up the SMTP Server box.
  • Check that the Server Name and User Name fields are populated correctly.
  • Click OK

Note:  The standard SMTP ports are as follows.  But if you’re still having issues, please check with your ISP or email provider as they may be using a different configuration.

  • No security: Port 25 or 587
  • TLS: Port 25 or 587
  • SSL: Port 465

If this still doesn’t work, go back to the SMTP Server box and see if SSL is checked.  If it’s not, check it (which means that your server requires a secure connection).

Hope this helps you out.
