Thumb drive giving me no option but to format it

I was using my computer one day and then I inserted the USB flash drive DSE 16GB on my computer to open some important files. Suddenly, a storm just passed over our area and this caused my computer to unexpectedly turn off.

I turned my computer on again and I wanted to browse the important files inside my USB flash drive.

Now the USB can’t be opened and it is only giving me an option to format it. Is my USB flash drive corrupted?

May I know what can I do to get my files back?

Formatting the USB flash drive is not an option as it contains important documents.

You mentioned that your thumb drive crushed after that sudden power loss.

Your USB thumb drive may be corrupt and whenever I have my drive damaged.

I just format it and the drive works perfectly fine but you need your files to be recovered so badly.

You can download software that could recover the loss data that could still be in the damaged drive.

There are instructions on the installation and the usage of such software depending on the developer.

Just browse through them from the internet and pick to whatever software that fits your needs.

Better try the software before buying them, some trial version works just fine.

I doubt it if you can still recover your files from your flash drive.

But just keep all your hopes high. Your flash drive is not really damaged.

Its partition might have collapsed because of the sudden power interruption happened that day.

Install any disk utility on your computer. Just try if it can still be fixed.

Or search for a partition recovery tool in the internet. You might still recover the partition together with the data it contains.

Try installing Partition Magic. It’s a partition tool that is used in adjusting and creating hard drive partitions.

It can also diagnose errors in a partition.

Hello Dear,

Your USB drive itself is not corrupted, but the file system on your USB drive is corrupted, because encountered electric shock when it turned off suddenly.

You have one chance to reset it.

Go to command prompt, and type the chkdsk command on the Flash drive.

It will perform a scan of the flash drive to fix the file system.

If it does not start fixing it, then you have no choice but to format it.

I’m so sorry about your flash drive.
