Is there a way to force a silent install of Flash Player?

Hi,

We have an application that requires the latest version of Flash player, but not all users (remote) do the updates.

Is there a way to force a silent install, typically through a REGEDIT?

We have to contact each user through 'Go to Assist' once a year for audits, so the change can be made at that time. If the latest version of Flash is not installed, the application does not run properly and then the user calls the Helpdesk for assistance. Being able to force this update through the Registry would be a huge time saver and also cut down the amount of calls and user downtime.

Thanks for any help!

Hello Arace,

The following workarounds should help you a great deal if you want to silently install the latest version of the flash player:

Solution 1

For Internet Explorer:

install_flash_player_ax.exe /silent

For Firefox:

install_flash_player.exe /silent

You will need to make sure that you close Internet Explorer as well as Firefox before you execute the commands above.

To download the flash players for these browsers, use the following link:

Flash player

Also note that the command commands may not  be able to work for the 10.1 version.

Solution 2

* You will need to create a text file and then save it as mms.cfg – make sure that you use UTF-8 encoding.

* After that go to the file and then add the following rows

AutoUpdateDisable=0

SilentAutoUpdateEnable=1

* Make sure that you put  the file under "%WINDIR%System32MacromediaFlash"

Regards,

Carl

The latest version of Adobe Flash Player is released on a timely basis. Installing Adobe Flash Player will automatically configure the plug-in to update silently automatically unless you changed the setting and you selected to update manually. To check on what setting is selected, click “Start”, “Control Panel” then select “Flash Player”. In “Flash Player Settings Manager” screen, go to “Updates” tab.

Here, check which setting is selected. If you want to install or update Flash Player silently and automatically, “Allow Adobe to install updates (recommended)” should be selected. If you select “Notify me to install updates”, you will be notified on your screen when a new version is available then you have to download it manually and install it. You can download Flash Player manually from here:
