Hello,

I have a TFT-LCD monitor; i have used it for two years without any complications. Last week, it developed some strange complications. This happened after i changed my residence. There monitor may have turned upside down or something worse happened during the movement. After connection to the system unit, i turned on the monitor. It worked normally, but after a few seconds the back-light of the monitor went out. When i shined bright light on the screen i could see the desktop icons and the screen saver. I shut it down and rebooted.

This time round, there was a quick bright display on the screen which turned off and turned on again. It displayed all the boot information and sequence. The background screen was black as usual but the fonts which were supposed to be WHITE were all RED. When i logged on, everything was reddish in color, the icons, pictures, video etc. This whole thing is strange to me. I don’t know how to handle it or where to start the fix. I have tried to ask a few friends if they have experienced or heard anything like this, but the answer was no. Does anyone know how to go about this? Any idea? I will be very thankful.

Hello Ronald Moore.

I will guide you here as to how to get over with your problem.

First, there is really a big possibility that your monitor has been damaged when you change your residence. It is a possibility that your monitor may have been bumped as it is transported to your new residence.
The best thing to do here is to plug in your monitor to your friend's computer or to another computer. If the monitor is okay, the problem is with your computer possibly your video card.

However, if your monitor still has problem after plugging it to another computer, which I think has the highest probability, then I would say your monitor is indeed defective.

With that, there is no software to fix that. And I do not recommend you to open your TFT-LCD since the crystals inside it is poisonous and is not recommended even to touch it.
I recommend to bring to your local repair shop.

Hello,

I will now try to guide you through various errors/faults which might have occurred and the solutions next to them:

1. Your backlight inverter may not be giving the optimum output required-this happens when a change of power supply is there, and as you mentioned you shifted places so there could be a possibility of some fault in the power supply, and while yet the errors are a minimum if this thing is continued you might lost your backlight permanently (it will have to be changed) . So the immediate step would be to check the power supply by an ammeter and a voltmeter, match with the values authorized to you and make a complaint to your power supplier if it turns out to be different. Secondly if your backlight has gone the only option left for you would be to change your inverter and before connecting again make sure to ensure proper power supply.

2. While moving your screen the connections related to the inverter may have become lose or connection might have broken. In that case take your screen to a technician and get that fault fixed. If you are good with some basic tools you can open up your screen yourself, its just a couple of wires lose which you can easily make out where to put.

Where to buy?

Easily available at most hardware stores and online sites. Even second hand available. Just ask or search for "TFT BACKLIGHT INVERTER"
