Hello, I was working on my HP laptop then suddenly the screen turns black there’s an error message on my screen that say’s the system has detected that a cooling fan is not working properly then it shuts off. What do you think is the reason why this happen? Will the fan needs to be replaced?

Patricia,

The system shut off in order to protect the system components, mainly the CPU from excessive heating. If the fan stopped working you better take the computer to a repair shop. The laptop needs to be taken apart and disassembly to replace the fan assy.

Depending on the laptop model, sometimes the fan only needs cleaning or to remove a staple or clip that for some reason got into the fan space. You can use a bottled pressure air can or some small pliers to do it.

Hope this helps

Hi there, this happens only when the cooling has dust or when the cooling fan is no more in a working condition that is if it becomes too old or is damaged. If the cooling fan has dust please clean the dust firstly if you know how to do it and if don’t know then please don’t try it as it may damage your laptop. The best option is to contact laptop repair person who will fix this problem
