My Skype is been hanging in my Samsung pocket and at a times this problem persist causing my phone to freeze,

This is quiet often observing in touch screen based mobiles. The problem over here is the process may stuck when you are using it. You can try the beta version of Skype which has been launched recently. This may help you i guess. If the problem still occurs try using the Slide It which is an alternative for Skype and its not a freeware.
But there is a trial version of that app which can be used in place of that. Make sure you use only one of them not both at a time. Which may give you additional problems later. So better use the Slide It which I feel is the better tool which performs well and is good and easy to use.
