Sudoku app for netbook Windows 8 cannot be opened. My netbook resolution i 1024×600 and Windows 8 cannot open it. There is always message saying the app cannot open. Is there any possibility to make resolution bigger or is there any chance to bypass this limitation and run modern apps anyway?

Hello,

To solve your problem please follow these steps given bellow.

  1. First open the start menu then in the search box type regedit.
  2. In the search result double click on the regedit icon.
  3. Then click Edit; Find (Ctrl+F) in the registry editor.
  4. Now type “Display1_DownScalingsupported in the find what field.
  5. To locate the Reg key click next.
  6. When you get the key you need to change the value. To do that double clicks it to edit the value.
  7.  Now change the value from 0 to 1 and then click ok.

If Reg editor locates many Display1_DownScalingSupport; you should edit all.

Now restart your netbook and you see that additional display options are available. You can now select the option that you need to run an application on Windows 8.

Hope this will help you.

Hello Berta R Cahill,

It's not related to your computer resolution. I got from research that most of the people are complaining about built-in apps and games. They are not able to open it. It might be some bugs in windows 8. Try this steps below and see if it is resolved.

1. Open Command Prompt as administrator. To do this go to start search, press Windows+Q to open search and type cmd.

2. Then right-click on it and run as administrator.

3. Now in cmd type sfc/scannow.

4. It will start a system scan and could take up to 10 minutes depending on your pc performance.

5. It will give an ok message when completed and then restart your PC.

Then try to open the app. Hope it will help.

Thanks,

Wagner Desantiago
