Stuck key on my laptop keyboard

My one key is stuck on my keyboard – I can't type the number one so I have to spell it out.  I've tried using canned air to see if there are crumbs or something, but nothing has worked.  I don't want to bang it or anything, but I'm not sure if I should attempt to lift the entire keyboard or not.  Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can try to unstick it?  Thanks.

You could try to use some Cleaning Glue or Vacuum cleaner to clean your keyboard if there is anything stuck under the 1 key. However, if you cannot clean out something, it might be there are some damages on your keyboard. The best way is changing your keyboard; however, if you don’t want to fix it, you could use the Num Lock key. After pressing the num lock, normally when you press ‘m’ or ‘n’, it will treated as 1 depending on different manufacturer.

The problem there is that you are using a laptop. If it’s a desktop computer, opening the back cover of the keyboard won’t be a problem and checking what’s wrong with the button will also be easy. With a laptop, taking out the entire keyboard means disassembling the laptop itself and this is not recommended for ordinary users because disassembling a laptop is not easy.

I tried it myself with my sister’s laptop and there are way too many small parts that you need to take care of. If the problem is just with one button, the “1” key, you can use the key combinations from the ASCII table to generate number “1”.

To print or display the number one (1) character, press and hold ALT + 49 (use the keys on the number pad on the right of the keyboard to type 49) then release the ALT key to display the character. For other characters you can generate with the ALT key from the ASCII code, go to ASCII Table.

On the other hand, you can just buy a USB keyboard to connect to your laptop.
