1) On Windows-
• Get a backup drive in the USB device
• Click on the Start menu, then type backup and click on backup and restore
• Select the set up backup option. Click the external drive which you have plugged in and select next
• Then, click on the Save settings and run backup option.
2) On Mac-
• Plug in the USB drive
• Then, click on the use as a backup disk option. You can click on System preference option following which you can select on time machine
• Then click on select disk backup and choose the external drive from the options provided
