Chase, turn on your router as well as your pc or laptop. Using the Ethernet cable that comes with the router attach one end to the Ethernet port found at the back of the router. Use the router's software disk to install to your computer. Just follow the instructions as it displayed on the screen of the computer. Configure the router and set up the security setting including the WPA or WE key. Close and restart your pc and make it sure that the wireless connections switch to your pc is enabled. To avoid IP address conflicts set the IP configuration. Click on the start menu and load the control panel. If the network is secure you will ask to provide a password for safety but its optional.

Hello Chase.

Below are 10 tips from microsoft.com that might help you:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/

From the suggestions in the above URL, try relocating your router first.  Place it in a central location away from obstructions such as walls or metallic objects such as refrigerators or metal filing cabinets.  This takes only a little effort and, depending on how you implement it, won't cost you anything.

On the router, you can also try changing the Channel.  By default, routers are set to use Channel 6 or 11.  Neighbouring routers using the same channels can interfere with your router.  Changing channels might reduce the interference.  Check also that your router's wireless radio is set to 100%.  Refer to your router manual for details on these.

If you are willing to spend some cash, you can also try replacing the antenna with a high gain antenna.  Such antennas are relatively cheap and can be bought in computer stores.  Wireless range extenders will cost you more but it will extend your Wi-Fi range considerably.

Hope this helps!
