Spilled coffee on my laptop!

I am in a true predicament – I spilled coffee on my laptop!  I am very afraid to even attempt to use it, so any advice or recommendations would be truly appreciated.  I don't know where to even start with this.  It was black coffee, no milk or sugar, if that even matters!  Any help is very appreciated.  Thank you!

Considering you might have caused a hardware problem by spilling coffee on your keyboard, do not connect it to power or switch it on. This might cause a short circuit or rusting on the motherboard and other parts. You should take it to the service center and they will fix it for you. Your keyboard might have to be replaced.
