Hello guys,

I want to install Sony Vegas 11 for the editing of some videos. I tried to install it but all the time I got an error. The screenshot of the error is attached below:

Hello Jacob,

Error 1603 is a common error with Sony Vegas. It is causing because of mainly two things

  1. The folder you are trying to install is encrypted
  2. Otherwise your SYSTEM has no control over the installation path.

It is reported by many other software's like windows installer package and many others. The experts suggest lots of solution for it. Here I note few :

  • Install this software to another drive. Install the software by giving another path, which is small ( like 'D:' )
  • Or another way is to grant permission to the SYSTEM account, which is only applicable in windows XP and 2000. Not applicable in Windows 7. For this right click on the drive which you try to install and go to security or file sharing tab . And go to users and groups click system and click ADD button. In permission box check full control and ALLOW in Advance. Its done. This will solve your problem

I will only suggest the first option which is and applicable in all OS.

Hope you get the answer, have a nice day.

If you want to install that version of Sony Vegas Pro 11 then make sure your computer is 64-bit because you are installing the 64-bit version. It will not install on 32-bit Microsoft Windows. If this is not the problem as you are using a 64-bit computer, check the system requirements and verify that your computer meets those requirements.

Sony Vegas Pro 11 supports Windows XP Service Pack 3, Windows Vista Service Pack 2, and Windows 7. It requires 2 GHz or faster processor, 1 GB RAM, and 400 MB free space. Also, make sure to install it with an administrator account. You need full administrative privileges when installing programs like this.

If the problem continues, one possible reason is if you are using Windows 10. Though Sony Vegas Pro 11 should run on Windows 10, the program doesn’t technically support the operating system. In this case, the best solution is to replace it with a much newer version.
