Before you try to use the webcam, you should install the device driver first.  If the webcam came with a Driver CD or DVD, you can put it on your CD/DVD Drive and run the driver installation program.

But then if doesn't come with a CD/DVD (or in case you misplaced it and cannot find it anymore), you can actually go the Sony Vaio website and look for Drivers download section, look for the model of your webcam and download the corresponding driver for it.  Once the download is finished, run the setup of the driver software.

After your installation, try to open your Skype again and see if your webcam now works.  Good luck to you!

I think the problem here is not with your webcam but with your Skype application. Check the settings in Skype for the video and select your webcam.

If you just downloaded and installed Skype and did not check its settings to properly configure it, then this is what’s causing the problem. But if your webcam is already enabled in Skype and it’s still not working, try uninstalling your webcam’s driver then check your computer for any possible errors.

Use a disk utility application to check the system. After that, install your webcam’s driver again. Do a test if it’s already working.

You should also check if your Windows Firewall is not blocking Skype or something.
