There are various software to locate the stolen laptop or mobile phones.
Of them some popular ones are Prey, LaptopCop, Laptopsentry etc.
To find out missing laptop: 1. First you have to check for the exact location of your laptop. For this Check on the Wifi look up of the software to know the exact geological location of your laptop.
2.Then check the nearby hotspots against a database, typically Google, Skyhooks to find out where the laptop is.
3. Searching with an IP address can certainly give a rough location, but a far miles away from the exact one.
