Hello Kyle,

Use .rtf or Rich Text File instead. .RTF is an open source text format. MAC OS can read this if not on .TXT extension.

Heres what to do;

  1. Open .XLS file from Microsoft Excel Office (what ever version .XLS is)
  2. Go to FIle>Save as
  3. Select save as type as .RTF file or Rich Text Format.

The problem should be solve by now.

Hope this helps you Kyle.

If you want to convert a Microsoft Office Excel file into a text file, you don’t really need to convert because you can do it right within Microsoft Office Excel itself by saving the file into TXT format (.txt). Start Microsoft Office Excel then load your worksheet file.

Once the file is loaded, click on the “Office” button and select “Save As” or press ALT + F + A on your keyboard to bring up the save as dialog. In the save as dialog, in “Save as type,” scroll down and select either “Text (Tab delimited) (*.txt)” or “Unicode Text (*.txt)”.

Microsoft Office Excel save as text

Save the file and that’s it. Your Microsoft Office Excel worksheet is now in text format.
