Hi Experts,

I tried to install ITunes on my machine and got the error message "C:\Windowssystem32softpub.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error". I am sure it is not the problem with the Administrator.

Have you any idea for the error mentioned above? Please help me to solve it.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

This might be occurred because of using an incorrect package. So you have to remove the package completely. Also need to reinstall iTunes and QuickTime.

Go to control panel and then go to add or remove programs.

Please select iTune application and uninstall it. Very important: Do not restart yet.

Make sure. Very important: Do not restart yet.

Make sure you have uninstalled all the iTune applications before restart the computer.

Then reinstall the application.

Hi Jolie,

Here is what you can do, Open Run box and then type in cmd if User account control opens just click continue, you can also look for command prompt then do a right click and then choose run as administrator. Once you have the elevated command prompt opened type in regsvr32 vbscript.dll and then press Enter. A message “DllRegisterServer in vbscript.dll succeeded” Click OK and then try to install iTunes again.
