Smart Defrag Error “System Error! Exe file is corrupted and can’t run

My PC was running fine but two days before some “Smart Defragmenter”, which I never had installed, imitated a system scan and detected a lot of various infections on my PC. While Smart Defragmenter is running, it blocked the ability to run anything executable on my PC as the program says that they are corrupted.

Whenever I try to run them they give the error message

“System Error!
Exe file is corrupted and can’t run. Hard drive scan required Scan hard drive”

When I press Scan hard drive it states that you first need to purchase this “Smart Defragmenter” software before it can fix any of them. This smart Defragmenter is also not available in add/remove programs so I could delete it from there.

I don’t really know what this “Smart Defragmenter” actually is. I guess some Malware or virus!

Can anyone please tell me the solution to remove this monster out of my PC.

Dear Elvis.

You got this error:
“System Error
Exe file is corrupted and can’t run. Hard drive scan required
Scan hard drive”

You are right, that is virus / Malware. To remove this Malware, just do these steps:

First, you need to download and run Rkill. This would kill / stop any fictitious processes that are running on the system. (Do not restart your system as this will allow any fictitious programs to start). If you have problem in running Rkill then download a new version from the same page with different extension. Once you have run Rkill, download and install MalwareBytes. Update the latest definition and run a full system scan. This should remove the infection / Malware.

Take Care

Paul

Hi Elvis,

I think this is a Virus or Malware. You shall download an Anti-Virus program to remove this. You can find a free Anti-Virus on internet e.g. Avast, AVG or Avira etc and install the software.  After installation you shall get the most updated version of the Malware and Virus.  Then you have to scan your hard drive.

If the Anti-Virus is not working against the Virus or Malware, you shall format your computer and then install a program named Deep Freeze.  This program could protect your hard drive and your computer becomes durable because the original configuration would be frozen and any redundant or undesirable changes are restricted.  The system integrity is managed after a simple reboot or restore therefore your computer could run efficiently and smoothly.

I hope this could helps to solve your error.  Have a good day.
