Try to download one file at a time, or use a download manager for faster speed. And also, don't download from website that has a lot of traffics or users that keeps downloading the same file. If you have downloaded a file at a very slow speed, scan your computer for any viruses, sometimes it can cause problems with your PC. Download only from trusted website and lastly, contact your ISP and report the issue.

Hi Andrea Stewart,

The problem with the download speed may vary from different factors. You need to identify your actual download speed by testing your internet speed.

Identify your download speed by going to www.speedtest.net. For a 512kbps internet subscription, the speed test results should show 0.3Mbps to 0.4Mbps. If it shows 0.1Mbps then the problem is with your internet provider.
Otherwise try downloading a file from a different website and check the transfer rate. The reason for this is that some websites would set a limit to the user's download speed so they can manage the network traffic in their servers.

Hi,

You have to consider many factors in regards to your download speed. One factor is the size of the file you are downloading. The reason can be such as the bottleneck at your download site, the bandwidth of your internet service provider and the bottleneck of your internet service provider, to name a few. Have you run your antivirus on your computer? If not, please do so as there may be a virus present that slows down your speed. Another reason could be your computer needing a higher memory.

You may use a download manager of your preference available in the web. Many are free to use and there is also some software with a fee. Many users also mention the kind of web browser they use. Many prefer Firefox and Google respectively for windows user.

If you are downloading huge files, I suggest you get an internet service provider that offers a higher speed.  It will take you approximately 26 minutes to download a 100MB file with a 512kbps speed and lesser time with a higher speed.
