When I opened my Skype today an error message appeared. I uninstalled it, restart my computer, and installed it again but still the same error message appeared.

What are the possible caused of this problem and how can I fix this?

You must have recently updated Skype and might be using Skype 4.2, It seems to be a bug in the latest version of Skype. However the problem did exist before and normally occurs after updating. I don't have any working solution to this problem but try these steps, they might work.

Try disabling ZoneAlarm Firewall. See if it works.

If it still gives you an error then try booting to safe mode (F8 at boot and choose Safe Mode with networking) and see if that works?
I would be tempted to re-install the current version or test the beta version of Skype 5. Below is the link to Skype 5 beta version.
