This issue has been reported by many of the Skype users. I am posting some solutions below which will be definitely helpful.

1.Update Google Chrome to Google Chrome 17 and reinstall Skype. This will surely solve the issue.

2. You can download Firefox 10 as it also supports Skype. You can download Firefox 10 here:     http://osxdaily.com/2012/01/31/firefox-10-released-to-download/

If you select Firefox 10 as your default browser, then I recommend that you must delete Google Chrome or else keeping two internet browsers at the same time may slow down your computer’s speed.

3. Are you using any antivirus for your computer? If yes, then switch it off and then click the ‘’Skype click to call button’’.If the     button works now, this means that the antivirus is causing some problems. You will need to change your antivirus settings.

If the Skype toolbar on your Google Chrome is not working, first try updating your Chrome browser. Visit Download Chrome Browser. Once downloaded, don’t uninstall your existing Chrome browser. Go to the download folder then run the installer. It will upgrade your current Google Chrome. After this, check if the Skype toolbar is now working. If the toolbar still fails, update your existing Skype.

Visit Skype for Windows Desktop. Try the toolbar again with the new Skype. On the other hand, if the Skype toolbar is not part of the Skype software and is only an add-in from Google Chrome, try updating the toolbar. Visit the page of the Skype toolbar and check if a new version is released. If no new version is released and what you are using is the latest, uninstall or remove the toolbar and then install it back from the Skype toolbar home page.
