Sitefinity 3.6 Installation Error – Unknown error (0x80005000)

Hi TechyV!

I am moving my files and programs from my laptop to a  secondhand desktop unit that I have recently acquired.

When I tried running the Sitefinity 3.6 installation this message came up.

I have followed the same steps I have done when I installed this on my laptop.

My laptop and the desktop both run on Windows Vista Home Basic and I have not bothered to reformat everything on the desktop.

I don't know what's causing the error when I try it on the desktop, as I have had no trouble when I installed it on my laptop.

If you have any ideas or suggestions it will help greatly.

Thanks.

Both your laptop and desktop have the same Windows platform used but you did not check if the desktop is compatible to run the program or maybe you missed installing something that’s why it generated an error.

Here are the System Requirements for Sitefinity 3.6:

Server-side Requirements

  • Microsoft Windows Server 2000, 2003, 2008, Windows XP Professional, Windows Vista
  • Internet Information Services 5.1+
  • Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0, 3.5 for the 3.5 build of Sitefinity

Database Platforms

  • Microsoft SQL Server 2000
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2005
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2008
  • Microsoft SQL Express
  • MySQL
  • Oracle 10+

Check again the required programs for Sitefinity 3.6 that need to be installed. If all are installed and the error is still the same try formatting your hard drive and install a fresh copy of Windows Vista. Check also the desktop’s available free space.
